Beyond Sunset Demo Releasing this Friday!!

Beyond Sunset is described by its developers as ‘a story-driven synthpunk first-person action RPG with an emphasis on mobility.

Adrenaline-fueled retro-styled sci-fi shooter Beyond Sunset is getting its first public demo at the end of this week!

It was announced a couple of weeks ago that the game, previously only accessible via the game’s patreon, will be getting a demo on Steam and Itch.io on the 21st of January.

Beyond Sunset is described by its developers as ‘a story-driven synthpunk first-person action RPG with an emphasis on mobility.’ The game features advanced movement features such as dashing, sliding and wall-jumping. From the already-released clips of the game, this looks to be an exciting and adrenaline-fueled retro-aesthetic sci-fi adventure that we can’t wait to see more of.

An official description of the story says; ‘You’ve been awakened from cryostasis by a mysterious woman.  You can’t remember who you are. Your name, your identity… lost in the fog of hypersleep. The woman offers you a deal: carry out her violent revenge against the crime syndicates that wronged her, and in return, she will restore your memories and identity…’

The low-fi look of this game (‘inspired by classic DOS first-person shooters from the era of Doom and Duke Nukem 3D’) brings to life the exciting world of Sunset City, full of interesting missions to take and NPCs to talk to as you take in the vapourwave soundtrack.

An interesting point about this game is full mod support at launch, even in the demo. The devs plan to provide ‘richly-featured free and open-source tools’ which will allow you to ‘Create and share your own levels, weapons and more’.

The Developers at Metacorp have said that the extended builds of the game will still be available through the game’s patreon, so if the demo piques your interest, perhaps look to that.

The demo is available on the 21st of January on Itch.io and Steam, and you can check out a trailer for a game right here:
