Yomawari: Lost in the Dark looks like Everything Fans could Want

Yomawari: Lost in the Dark is coming to Nintendo Switch™, PS4™, and PC on October 28, 2022 in Europe and Oceania.

From developers of Last Rebellion and Lost Dimension comes the third game in the underrated Yomawari series. A top-down 2D survival horror series with similar vibes to Fatal Frame and Silent Hill. In these games you play as children lost in town at night, beset upon by monsters that seek to end you. In the first game your dog’s ghost has been kidnapped and you must save it, and in the second you switch between two playable characters both trying to save each other from this awful place.

Yomawari: Lost in the Dark Survival Game

The third entry in the series, this game has players revisiting old locations with a new twist. The art design is the most detailed and thought-through in the series, with shadowy environments (helped by new sound design) and terrifying ghosts, some of the most highly-designed in the series so far. On the topic of artwork, for the first time in any of the Yomawari games you can customize your character’s appearance by changing her hairstyle, hair color, clothes, and accessories.

An official game description reads; ‘A young girl awakens in a dark, unfamiliar forest with no recollection of how she got there. As she searches for the way out, she crosses paths with a mysterious individual who reveals to her that she’s been cursed. In order to break the curse, she needs to explore the streets of her town at night to seek out her lost memories. However, malevolent ghosts lurk within the shadows, and the girl must avoid them by running, hiding, and shutting her eyes if she hopes to survive long enough to break her curse.’

You must do whatever it takes to survive this terrifying night. Uncover the secrets of this world and the specters that inhabit it using your flashlight, listen to the sound of your own heartbeat to detect nearby ghosts and utilise a new mechanic, closing your eyes, which links into the ‘don’t look away’ tagline, to avoid locking eyes with the evil spirits watching you.
