We all need that short and sweet game to help us relax and kill time. We’re in luck, because ChaseFox brings us the second installment in the “CARROT” series, and it looks just as pretty as the first.
CARROT: Pancakes and Waffles is a slice of life game, just like its predecessor. It takes place in the same world, packed with familiar faces, and also some new ones. Players get to live a peaceful day in a whimsical hand-painted world. It’s neither Yharnam nor Raccoon City, thankfully.
Players can choose from one of the two main characters as they explore their home, learn more about the surroundings, and bump into a friendly NPC or two. The game functions exactly like a digital house, allowing you to roam about inside and outside. This is great for players who enjoy existing and chilling in a hand-crafted digital space.
Now, the thing is, there is essentially nothing to “do” in this game. There will be no goal to work toward, no quest to complete, no progression mechanic and no ending to achieve. This is purely a “stay home and chill” simulator, and I think that’s beautiful

The game starts with a new in-game day, with each day bringing a new set of experiences. Different meals will be served everyday, and the NPCs will have a different agenda–everything changes, as they would. You control how time flows. The more things you do, the faster time will progress. Rinse and repeat.
CARROT: Pancakes and Waffles may not be for everyone, but it’s definitely a game one could find some sweet relaxation with. It’s available now on itch.io and Steam.
