Whiteboard Games has partnered up with publishing juggernaut Gameforge to bring forth their inaugural commercial title on PC–the top-down, sci-fi roguelite, I See Red. The game is set for a 2022 release via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and has already received critical acclaim, earning the award for “Most Eye-Poppingly Beautiful Game” during IGN’s Rogue Jam last month, as well as the grand prize at Argentina’s EVA Awards in 2021.
This latest partnership is in line with Gameforge’s initiative to support independent studios internationally in order to release their games to market for the world to see. Tomislav Perkovic, Chief Product Officer at Gameforge talks a bit about their excitement for what’s to come.
“2022 has been a massive year for Gameforge, beginning with our first indie studio partnership to launch Trigon: Space Story, and now it continues with I See Red. Our team immediately fell in love with the game’s unique aesthetic, powerful and engaging gameplay, and unique mechanics, and we are thrilled to be the publisher to help bring this game to the world. We know that this will be one of many exciting titles to come from Whiteboard Games, and we’re proud to include this one in our portfolio.”
I See Red is an action packed roguelite fueled by unbridled rage and sweet vengeance. The story takes place in the year 2621 where you, an outlaw, travel across space, kicking down intergalactic doors in search of those who did you dirty. Since your view of the world is consumed by wrath, the game has a pretty intense dichromatic aesthetic, making enemies appear in a deathly red, while your surroundings fade to gray. It’s a weaponized journey of self-discovery as you use everything in your arsenal to obliterate your enemies–humans, aliens, and machines alike. It’s free-flowing madness, and there’s more than one way to plot your revenge. It’s all just a matter of choice.
