Developer Tiny Roar has given eager players a first look at XEL, a beautiful sci-fi action game coming later this year. The developers call the game “love letter to classic Zelda titles,” the new trailer they have released shows off some of the puzzles, environments and the important time-travel mechanic.
XEL has you playing as amnesiac protagonist named Reid, who finds herself shipwrecked on a mystifying planet with no memory of who she is or where she’s from. During her quest, Reid will meet a cast of charming characters, engage in thrilling top-down dungeon-clearing combat, and of course, find and upgrade a whole arsenal of valuable items and tools to help on this adventure.
Featuring a look and feel that blends old-school and new-school, this journey has you traversing time and space in what Tiny Roar is calling an ‘Audiovisual Experience’.

XEL launches on Windows PC via Steam and GOG, as well as Nintendo Switch, in summer 2022. The verdant adventure also launches on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Playstation 4/5 later this year.
