Sunny Demeanor Games is set to release their very cozy RPG/puzzle game, A Weekend in Puzzleburg, and they’ve chosen quite a nice day to coincide with. The game sees players as a woman on a weekend vacation exploring the fictional resort town of Puzzleburg and performing random acts of kindness for the town’s residents.
Of course, you won’t be playing good samaritan the whole time. One needs to engage the usual vacation activities, such as taking selfies with the town’s welcome sign, reading books, and relaxing while getting your hair dyed.
The game is filled with humorous, engaging dialog and, get this–no combat whatsoever. For the more complicated puzzles, there’s a built-in hint system courtesy of the hotel concierge, who’s always ready to point you in the right direction if you find yourself needing some assistance.
A Weekend in Puzzleburg takes inspiration from other fun, whimsical games of the same vein such as Earthbound, Animal Crossing, and Stardew Valley. In terms of storytelling, you’ll draw a few comparisons to Life is Strange, To The Moon, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Bugsnax, and even Suikoden.

Going back to what was mentioned earlier, the release date coincides with National Random Acts of Kindness Day, and it’s the Friday before Presidents’ Day, making it the start of a holiday weekend in the US. Sunny Demeanor sees this as a good fit for the release date of a game that takes place over the course of a weekend vacation where you’re going around town performing random acts of kindness. Not to mention, unwinding.
A Weekend in Puzzleburg will be released via Steam on Friday, February 17, 2023.
