There’s nothing quite like an old-fashioned metroidvania; the brutal difficulty, the breathtaking art, the cozy feeling of dungeon hunting exploration. There’s a huge breadth of indie retro metroidvanias to choose from, and now one of 2021’s ‘Swords and Bones’ can take that great feeling wherever you go as it comes to the Nintendo Switch.
From SEEP, the developers of ‘Roar of Revenge’ and ‘Dragon Climax’ comes an RPG inspired by games like Castlevania and Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins, featuring over 50 levels, 6 bosses, and multiple endings to discover, this 16-bit platformer will easily have you coming back for more. Brought to life by an atmospheric chiptune soundtrack and charming character and enemy design, Sword and Bones does a great job of capturing the feel of the classics. Sword and Bones has you playing as a Knight fighting through a massive dungeon full of monsters and madness, and you must master not only the sword, but five game-changing spells and the intricacies of enemy attacks in order to make it out alive!
