This is a big one for me. DreadXP has today announced that the open-world RPG Dread Delusion is now available on PC via Steam on Early Access! Fans may recognise this game from the Haunted PS1 demo disc 2020 before DreadXP has fully formed, and as such it features PlayStation One era visuals and gameplay inspired by The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and King’s Field. Dread Delusion asks you to carve your own path as you discover mysterious towns, occult secrets and change the world through your choices and the magic you wield.
An official game description reads; ‘High above the cursed earth, humanity strikes out a meager existence among the glow of the Neuron Star. Brave knights of the Hypostatic Union, blinded by hubris, have slain countless Gods. The cold peaks or clockwork spires, tended to by the servants of the Machine Monarch, grind ever onward in endless supplication. Cursed Endless, bound to the earth in eternal rot, seeking slight comforts and eternal rest. It is a world torn asunder by powerful passions, dark desires, and even more reckless hopes. How can you, a lone prisoner, hope to survive such a tumultuous world? It would take the heart of a God to brave it…’
Combat against the unspeakable horrors of this world is very flexible, and speech skills are just as important as strength and magic. The story is interactive and asks you to mold this world how you see fit, as you travel through mushroom forests and undead mausoleums, this game is really stunning and you’ll want to be a part of this place. As great as the current content is, there’s more to come, as the devs describe; ‘Dread Delusion is an ever evolving experience; Early Access updates will expand the main quest line (10-15 hours of additional content), unlock new weapons and spells, expand character customization, add constructible houses, and more.’
