Developer Dead Drop Studios are launching their Kickstarter for the newest installment in the long-running Outbreak series. Shades of Horror, will be a major step forward for the franchise as it will focus on online co-op as multiple players are brought into a series of fresh new stories and brand new mechanics.
The game aims to step away from the typical horror trope of grizzled veterans who can easily tear mow down the undead. Instead, the game goes the more “civilian” route, with average joes and janes using ingenuity and wit. Players must cooperate using the unique abilities of each character in order to survive and escape. As per trope, anyone who gets infected will turn. It’s up to the others if that same person dies or wanders among the undead.

The demo is currently available across Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and Google Stadia. For the first time, anyone with the link to the demo can play for 60 minutes on Stadia, even if they don’t have an account. Players with a Stadia account will have unlimited access.
