The game depicts a bleak future in which earth’s pollution has become so much that humanity must now look to the stars for a new home. Players take on the role of Noah, the lead scientist tasked with finding planets with similar specifications to our own. Wander around the research lab to find useful items, solve puzzles, and interact with other scientists. The key choices that the players make will determine the fate of humanity through multiple endings decided by the success or failure of key missions. 890B is the result of a collaborative effort between indie developers Nerd Games and Artax Games and published by Eastasiasoft Limited. It’s cheap, available on a variety of platforms, and has a thought provoking story. 2. Next Space Rebels (Available on PC, Mac, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch) Release Date: Nov 17th https://youtu.be/k06e8XIf3To Get ready ladies and gentlemen, this next game is for the nerdy rebellious type. Next Space Rebels is the debut game of Studio Floris Kaayk and what a statement they have made. The trailer of the game begins with a man urging viewers to join him on a mission to democratize space from the rich and create a new internet owned by the people. A very ambitious goal but one that requires getting to space. As a naive rocket hobbyist, players will grow their internet fame through their creations and challenges. Once you have enough support and resources you will reach higher and higher into the stars in a race for internet freedom. Next Space Rebels enables the joy of creation, lessons of failure, and progress of experimentation, generally reserved for complex building sim games, through its accessible “notepad-style” creation tools and intertwined narrative. The game has a tough but fair learning curve and the high reward of an interesting story and creative fulfilment. 3. Spectrolite (Available on PC) Release Date: November 18th https://youtu.be/QfXG3EjqnMY It’s not often that when we play platformers we think of competitiveness but Spectrolite definitely brings the competitive edge. Developed by two people, Noel Heiti and Andor Valentiny, Spectrolite is a first person platformer set in a futuristic environment that is traversed through parkour and powerful abilities. A flashy art style combined with a bumping soundtrack and fast paced gameplay make for a highly addictive experience that players can get lost and sink hours in. Speedrunners can practice and master timed challenges and compare on a global leaderboard. The game has only been out for a couple of weeks yet it is highly praised by the platforming community for it’s precise controls and large scale hand-crafted levels with diverse environments. 4. Joojee’s Journey (Available on Switch) Release Date: November 11th https://youtu.be/PMZZtlmy0Y4 For those in the mood for a cute and heartwarming narrative adventure, Joojee’s Journey is the game for you. Embark into the world as Joojee, a lovable bunny who wakes up with no memory of her past or friends. In order to recover her lost memories, Joojee uses a magical brush to enter into her friend’s mind to recover her memories as well as help others through their troubles. The gameplay is a hybrid of narrative adventures, puzzle games, and platformers all being balanced together with emotional characters. This game is the developer’s (Quantum Peaks) second game, following up from their release earlier this year, Bloody Bunny. Ice Station Z (Available on PC, Switch) Release Date: November 18th https://youtu.be/DVFfcqbeVbc When a zombie virus takes over the arctic island you are on and you are left to survive, you will be happy to have friends with you. Ice Station Z is a third person open world zombie survival indie game developed by Wobbly Tooth, who is actually just one person. The game features a large map that can fit 10 people with shelters, vehicles and other interesting locations to help you survive during day and night. Players can go scavenging, fishing and hunting with friends or alone, whatever is needed to survive. Despite being an indie game, Ice Station Z has worldwide multiplayer and is supported in 5 different languages (Japanese, French, German, Spanish, English) so grab your friends and see if you can survive in a snowy place overrun by the undead.
